The ‘gig economy’ is a relatively new term, to an increasingly digital world that has sparked the desire for workers to be their own boss, spending more time doing things that they want to do, in their own time and with the freedom to do so. It is a new work life balance that allows workers to spend quality time with family and friends when and how they wish.

The gig economy is an economy where part-time, contract or temporary positions are offered and completed, sometimes using students (as is our case). A job for life is no longer the norm, not in this digital world where automation is continuous. Job security requirements have also decreased as jobs have become more specialised and fragmented. Workers can now secure their future while enjoying their work at the same time.
